| Company "E" had its humble beginnings in 1990, when Mark Groen, then a member of The 4th U.S Infantry, decided to form his own unit. He went forward with recruiting men to hence be known as- "Company E, -2nd Regiment of The Vermont Volunteer Infantry".........
Although few in numbers at first, Company E steadily grew in size and became a recognized organization within the reenacting community in California. Our members have participated in several movie shoots, and traveled east to reenact the major battles of Cedar Creek, Gettysburg, and Antietam, to name a few. We also affiliate ourselves with "The Army of the Pacific", a Battalion of Campaign Style reenactors formed by Dominic Dal Bello , well known in Civil War reenacting circles for his publications and expertise in Infantry tactics. We strive to provide our members with a well rounded reenacting experience, both in the public eye and by our sponsorship of a tactical event that gives the reenactor an opportunity to live the day to day life of an Infantryman during the Civil War. The Vermont Volunteers Historical Association has aquired the use of a large portion of a remote ranchland that lends itself well to re-creating conditions in the mid 19th Century, with few reminders of modern civilization. It is in that environment that we experience non-scripted encounters with our adversary, making for a realistic and educational experience. Visit the Oakley Tactical page for more information In 1997, Company E incorporated as a Non-Profit Public Benefit Corporation, officially becoming "The Vermont Volunteers Historical Association". Our efforts are focused on Public Education, School Programs, and Campaign Style Tactical events which we host. We continually research and try to improve our impressions of the men we endeavor to honor and portray. Our ranks are drawn from the Greater Southern and Central California area, from Visalia in the North, to Perris in the South. **** |
