We are an authentic Civil War reenacting unit recreating an actual Company in one of the first regiments to answer Lincoln's call for volunteers after the attack on Ft. Sumter, and which served with distinction in every major battle of the Eastern Theater from Bull Run to Appomattox.

We participate with other reenactors, Union and Confederate, in recreating Civil War battles and camp life.

As a member of the 2nd Vermont, you will gain the benefit of being a member of a California non-profit, public benefit Corporation. Company E is self insured, and offers a wide variety of activities that offer something for every level of reenacting, from authentic Campaign Style Tactical events, to Public attended demonstrations.

We also participate in reenactments in other settings in California, nearby states, and on battle sites in the Eastern United States. Company E participated in the filming of "Gettysburg","Amistad" and several Public Education Films.

We use only authentic (usually reproduction) Civil War period uniforms and equipment, and strive to keep our drill, food, and living history presentations as historically accurate as possible. In order to maintain this level of authenticity, we ask all members to meet minimum equipment standards. (See Uniform Requirements and Vendor List).

We can provide you with the names of several sutlers (vendors) selling the needed items. Clothes and equipment for ladies and children are also available and we encourage family participation. We invite anyone interested in the history of America during the Civil War era to join us (and tens of thousands of reenactors nationwide) in an endeavor which is both exciting and educational.
