When you join up with Company E, you will portraying an authentic Civil War infantry Company based on an actual regiment that was organized early in the war. Company E, 2nd Vermont Volunteer Infantry, served with distinction in every major battle of the Eastern Theater from Bull Run to Appomattox. Our unit participates along with other reenactors, Union and Confederate, in authentically recreating Civil War battles and camp life at reenactments, as well as performing Civil War living history educational presentations at middle schools and other living history events.

As a member of the 2nd Vermont, you will gain the benefit of being a member of a California non-profit, public benefit Corporation. Company E is self-insured, and offers a wide variety of activities that offer something for every level of reenacting and living history education. Our members have participated in reenactments in other settings in California, nearby states, and on battle sites in the eastern United States such as Cedar Creek and Gettysburg. Company E participated in the filming of movies such as Gettysburg, Amistad and several Public Education Films. We use only authentic reproductions of period uniforms and equipment, and strive to keep our drill, food, and living history presentations as historically accurate as possible. In order to maintain this level of authenticity, we ask all members to meet minimum equipment standards. (See Uniform Requirements. We can provide you with the names of Sutlers (vendors) selling needed items. We do have some loaner gear available and encourage family participation. We invite anyone interested in the history of America's Civil War era to join us in an rewarding adventure which is both exciting and educational.

To become a member of The Vermont Volunteers Historical Association, you must be at least 18 years of age, or have a Parent or Legal Guardian as an active member in attendance when participating at events. Minimum age for combatants is fifteen years, although different rules may apply depending on the policy of the Association sponsoring any given event.
